5 months old

Life with this little guy has been a blast. He's growing and changing every day, and certainly keeping his mommy on her toes. He is now 5 months old and it's fun (and scary) to see his personality coming out. It's interesting to see the combination of traits he gets from both mom and dad. Although he's growing and changing there are some things that stay consistent. He's still pretty much sleeping through the night (except for once a night he gets hungry so we give him a bottle and he goes right back to sleep) and mommy is feeling pretty spoiled by that. We've started solids, kind of. Every time he gets oatmeal he will take three spoonfuls, basically spit it out, and refuse any more.

He still loves jumping, and jumping, and jumping some more. He has yet to fall asleep in it. every time he starts to doze off, his legs twitch and he starts jumping again.
All those reading times are starting to pay off. He's started actually focusing on the book and gets excited for certain pictures.
He still loves to fall asleep on daddy, not mommy. But mommy is still amazing at getting him to go to sleep in his crib.
He's getting a lot better at tummy time. The other day he actually spent a full 45 min doing tummy time.
Something new is he now loves looking out the windows and being outside. Unfortunately it's been raining so much lately that we haven't gotten many chances to go outside. He's also fascinated by Poodee. Every time she growls at something outside he just stares at her with huge eyes. Not sure if Poodee really likes James or not. She is constantly giving him kisses, but that could be because he constantly has either milk or food on his face.
He's discovered mirrors and is terribly entertained by that other baby and the silly faces he makes.
And heaven bless the inventors of the bumbo. He is so happy every time I put him in this little seat. And mommy loves that it allows her to get things done while entertaining him.
I love that I can give him his basket of toys and he can pick out what ever he wants and drop it on the floor around him.
He also hangs out on the counter while mommy does the dishes. He's entranced by the soap suds and running water. Plus if mommy is singing to him he gives me this cute face.
Also we had some family come into town and stay with us in August. Here he is with Great Grandma Orth. I wish I had more pictures of that visit, but unfortunately I had to work.
I love this picture of him with his cousin Macie. He's so excited to see another little person.
Yep, life with this little guy is the best!

Isn't it crazy how fast they change? I've done this four times and it still amazes me that from one month to the next I have a new kid. He is darling. I just love his reading face and the fact that he wants to be outside. He's all boy. The basket idea is BRILLIANT. I'll have to modify it for Lucy. I can't leave her on the floor or she'll be at the mercy of her adoring big sister, but I think she'd like a big supply of play things too.

That basket has got a lot of use over the years. I think either Brittany out Tia gave it to me at my bridal shower. I know that this will probably be the only baby I have that will get floor time, uninterrupted nap time, and lots of face time with mom and dad. How do you balance multiple children?

He is getting so big already! What a little chunky monkey! I need to see him again! :) I love that he loves to read books. And I didn't know you guys had a dog. Or did I? Each kid takes some of my memory and brain cells. :) P.S. You asked about the Hokulia (aka the monsterous snow cones) on my blog. We definitely will need to go next summer. They are amazing! And can you imagine the look on your little guy's face when he sees that and knows he gets to eat it? :)
